11 AMAZING THINGS YOU CAN DO ON YOUR NEW WHATSAPP (VERSION 2.16.306)
WhatsApp is gathering amazing features it can, to remain the giant of Instant Mobile Message App. Here are some of the few things you may never know you could do on WhatsApp.
1. _MAKE WORDS ITALICIZED_:
We all know why we need to italicize .. Now you can do that by inserting the Underscore (_) at the beginning and the end of a word to make it appear in italics
2. *MAKE WORDS BOLD*:
Doing this is easy, all you need to do is to apply the star symbol ( * ) before and after word(s) to make it appear bold.
3. ' ' ' MAKE YOUR TEXT APPEAR IN TYPEWRITER FONT' ' '
So you wanna take a moment to say something official or archaic… if you know what I mean… Simple, just put three of this Prime Sign (‘ ) NOT the apostrophe. You can get this sign on the 3rd part of the Android Keyboard.
4. ~STRIKETHROUGH TEXT~:
Ooops!!!… You shelled in the previous message
or Your android keyboard autoWRONGed you, or you gave a wrong information and you want to take it back….
This tip comes in handy, just apply the Tilde sign or squiggly/curly hyphen (~) before and after the word or sentence you wanna correct.
5. YOU COULD ALSO COMBINE ANY OF THE FOUR IN DIFFERENT COMBINATION OR ALL THE FOUR TIPS ABOVE IN ONE SENTENCE:
For example You can Bold and italicize,
Typewrite font, bold, italicize and strikethrough…
The combination goes on… Just be creative depending on what effect you want to make on your reader on WhatsApp.
6. SEND A SINGLE MESSAGE TO SEVERAL CONTACTS AT ONCE:
All you need to do is long-press a message you wish to forward, a bold straight arrow facing the right would appear on the top of your screen, you tap on it which would take you to your contact list, all that is left is to tap on all the contact you want to forward the message to. I call this "AMEBOO".
7. TAG A MESSAGE:
Now you can tag a specific message or someone for the purpose of replying the person or to make a reference to. Just long press the message you wanna reference or reply and at the top of the chat, tap on the curved arrow. This makes conversation easier… Sometime Network delay messages before sending them and hence it breaks the sequence or line of your convo, this tip come in handy to keep the your convo in line.
8. STAR A MESSAGE:
OK… so u got a message in your WhatApp Group that continue to churn out billions of message per day and u wanna locate that message u saw among the billions of messages… Hard right? ..like looking for a needle in a haystack. Simple, just long press like the above tip but this time tap on the star so it will keep the message in the favorite message group. So there you go… You get that message easily.
9. CHECK A MESSAGE RECEIPT.
Now that sound like what?... lol… Like Policing your message right? ..... Yeeeeaah …. You wanna prove to someone that he/she read a particular message at a particular time…. Like now, I knew Osabu and Precious read this at this time and one person didn't get to read it.
To do this, Just long press that message and tap on the info icon (i) at the top and you will see the message receipt.
Well This is Policing as I said earlier… This can cause a lot of strain in a non-trusting relationship (I don’t need to explain those scenarios, we all know it )… So to avoid this you can simply turn it off on your end by simply going the WhatsApp Settings>Account>Privacy>Read receipts.
10. Cool part!! Use WhatsApp on your PC. You all will agree with me that this is cool, I mean just imagine chatting by typing seamlessly to people on your PC, it saves you a lot of stress, working on your PC and having to carry your phone every now and then just to reply a message or check a WhatsApp notification, business have never been easy for corporate firms that use WhatsApp.
And it is so cool now that you don’t have to be a geek to make it happen…. Cos previously for you use WhatsApp on your PC, your PC have to be one Core i5 PC so it wont hang, and you have to install an android Emulator… ALL THAT IS NO LONGER NEEDED… Just simply download WhatsApp for PC on their website here, install and scan the Barcode that get displayed.
Now there are a lot pros to this as well as cons. Cons is that It entirely depends on your phone, the network, the battery. As far as power supply is epileptic here, Using the WhatsApp PC does not entirely free the phone… It drains the Battery of the phone too… and when the phone is off, No more WhatsApping on PC. When there is no network on your phone you are on your own.
Well I am sure Zuckerberg will find way to improve this to make WhatsApp PC work independently.
11. Last but not the least and Coolest Part.
You think WhatsApp Call was Coolest, saving your hard loaded airtime?. there is something more, now you can dump IMO and your Skype!! Cos it is possible to do WhatsApp Video Calls!! Rolled out as a Beta Version some months back, now everyone can update to the latest version and get calling with their phone.
Make sure your phone has a front camera… a good one (unlike mine) that will make you not to appear like a ghost on the other person's phone
